From this point it is another 10 kilometres to the actual Fish River Canyon and visitors must be in possession of a permit from Namibia Wildlife Resorts as well as a medical clearance before attempting the demanding 4-5 days hike along the Fish River Hiking Trail. Less demanding hikes, equally picturesque, are offered at the bordering private nature park. Hell’s Bend is where the river turns back towards it own flow, given that there have been rain for it to flow, and is one of the most awe-inspiring sights of the canyon.

Absorb the rugged splendour of the Fish River Canyon, discover the variety of flora which includes Namibia’s Quiver Tree and other drought resistant succulent plants. The canyon is home to some of the most poisonous snakes in Africa as well as several species of wild and bird life.
