Lovers of authentic and unflattened wilderness will love the charming Sendelingsdrif Rest Camp, especially if your idea of a good safari still includes non essentials such as electricity and a complete set of kitchen utensils. Quaint, mining-inspired accommodation is complemented nicely by the surrounding vegetation and seasonal wildflowers.

The camp itself consists of ten four or two-bed chalets, all with air conditioning, and full kitchen utilities (fridge, stove, etc). Units are all complete with showers, and have access to the camp swimming pool. Ablution facilities offer cold water showers only.

Activities for guests include guided tours of the area during the flowering season, as well as bird watching excursions, and walking trails of the area available for different time periods, and over different routes.

"The camp is fine but it would be better if there is a shop or restaurant and maybe a ATM. It is really a good place to rest. The room was well maintained ind everything you need is there."

DIRECTIONS: A main tarred road traces the outskirts of the Richtersveld Route area ? the R382 that leaves the N7 at Steinkopf and travels to Port Nolloth and then north along the coast to Alexander Bay. Dirt roads criss-cross the area between the tar road and the Orange River. The condition of these roads is variable, so it is always best to enquire with the locals should you be driving a non-4x4. If you are heading for the Richtersveld National Park, you have a number of options besides the tarred road along the coast.
From Cape Town travel north on the N7 until you reach Steinkopf. Turn left towards Port Nolloth and head to Alexander Bay. From Alexander Bay travel inland to the park, following the signs of the Sanparks.
From Johannesburg and Bloemfontein, travel on the N14 through Upington to Springbok. At Springbok, turn right onto the N7.
The quickest way to get to the Park from N7 (RSA) and B1 (Namibia) is to turn off at Steinkopf and approach via Port Nolloth and Alexander Bay with only the last 80km being on dirt.
