An incredibly rugged and starkly beautiful setting on the banks of the Gariep. Ablution facilities were clean and adequate, and we even managed (brief) cold showers in the middle of winter. As we had a toddler with us, we ended up camping under the trees about 1km from the ablutions and far enough from the river so the toddler couldn`t fall in! Found the road over the Akkadis pass hairy in a non-4X4 VW Transporter, but managable if you have an intrepid driver.
